Ways To Help

Wally Amos, founder of “Famous Amos” cookies said, “The roots of happiness grow deepest in the soil of service.”   Happily, there are many ways you can be of service to HOME and to the individuals living with developmental disabilities who we serve.

FINANCIAL DONATIONS

Cash Donation

A tax deductible financial contribution, either by credit card or check, will help HOME continue its mission to provide safe, affordable housing for people with developmental disabilities living in the West Side or South Central parts of Los Angeles.  You can make a secure, online donation by clicking the donation button below, Paypal, or you can send a check to:

Donation of Stock or Other Capital Instruments

We would welcome a donation of stock or similar type of financial instrument.  To arrange this, please call Norma Delgado, Executive Director, at HOME, 310-988-4000.

Planned Giving/Will Bequests

Ensure that your dedication to HOME lives after you by remembering HOME in your will.  HOME would welcome gifts of real property, bequests, and other planned giving options.  To get things started, please call, or have your Financial Advisor call HOME and speak to Norma Delgado, Executive Director, at 310-988-4000.  We’ll sit down with you and, together, come up with a plan that fits your situation.

Matching Grants/Workplace Giving

Many employers match their employees’ charitable donations.  If you plan to make a donation to HOME, please ask your Human Resources Department if your employer will match it.  Just follow the procedures your employer uses; they will let HOME know what we have to do.

In addition, many employers conduct annual Workplace Giving Campaigns to encourage monthly payroll deductions to a variety of charities.  This means that employees who participate in the workplace giving campaign agree to have some level of donation taken out of their bi-weekly or monthly paycheck as a donation to the designated charity.  You can decide how much you can afford.  Even if your employer has a list of selected charities for the campaign, you should be able to “write in” HOME as your charity of choice.   Check with your Human Resources Department on how to do this.  Typically, workplace campaigns run from September through Thanksgiving to give employers’ finance departments time to create the records in time for the first payroll of the New Year.

INTRODUCE HOME TO YOUR NETWORK OF CONTACTS

HOME is always interested in “telling our story” and inviting new people to join our family.  There are a few ways to do this:

Host an Introduction Party

Host an informal reception at your home or another convenient gathering spot and invite your friends, extended family, neighbors, business contacts, or fellow church worshipers.  No need to be fancy.  Someone from HOME will attend and speak to the group about the vital work we do, with your support, for people with developmental disabilities.  You provide the audience; we’ll provide the speaker, materials and a few tenants who can speak to the enormous value of having a safe, affordable home.

Make a Private Introduction

Maybe you have a friend or colleague who works at a company or institution that could help HOME with services or financial support.  Making that introduction for us would open valuable doors that would help HOME carry out its mission.

VOLUNTEER

If you would like to offer the gift of your time, there are a variety of ways you can be of service.  From serving on our Board, being a part of our network of families, helping out at the HOME office, or taking on a special project at one of the housing properties, we could certainly use your help!

We welcome any other ideas you might have to be of help to HOME and the people we serve.  Don’t hesitate to call the HOME office at 310-988-4000 and ask for either Norma or Gwen.  We’ll take it from there.

When soliciting donations or enrolling in a Workplace Giving Campaign, you may be asked for HOME’s Federal Tax ID # - this is what makes your donation tax deductible.
